It doesn't matter if your kitchen is big or small. In this article we will focus on those centimetres that can make the difference between a merely beautiful kitchen and a beautiful, comfortable and functional kitchen.

We are referring to the measurements of your furniture and the distances between them.

If you are in the middle of redesigning your kitchen, grab paper, pen and tape measure, and let's get started.

    Base units

As the name suggests, base units are the units that are placed on the lower part of the wall, directly on the floor and, in most cases, will serve as a base for the kitchen work surface.

Let's start by talking about their depth. Our base units have a standard depth of 57 centimetreshowever, if you need them with a different depth, we can make them to measure!

In this way, you can install on them practically any worktopwhose minimum standard depth is 60 centimetres. However, remember that it is always better to opt for deeper worktops that create some overhang for more comfortable cooking and leave space behind the furniture for water, gas or electricity installations.

As for the height of these modulesthere are two options: 70 and 80 centimetres, so that you can choose the one that best suits you and your habits. The traditional size is 70, as in previous generations we were not so tall and it was usually women who did the housework, who were statistically shorter than men, so this size was comfortable for cooking.

Thinking about our current habits, we decided to create a second option: our modules of Concept 80. By adding the legs, with a variable height of 10 and 15 centimetres, we can achieve furniture up to 95 centimetres high. In this way, we achieve more storage space while improving ergonomics.

We also have columns, furniture that goes from floor to ceiling. Depending on the size you need, you can combine our modules and overmodules to create furniture up to 235 centimetres high (once again, if you need something higher... we will study it and manufacture it to measure!)

    Wall units

It is time to talk about wall units, which are placed on the wall above the base units.

As standard, they have a depth of 35 centimetres. The depth of these units is logically better than that of the base units, so that you can work comfortably.

For this purpose, there is also a recommended size to place them55 centimetres from the worktop. In this way, we leave enough free space to work and place electrical appliances while at the same time leaving the utensils and food that we store in the wall units within easy reach.

    Work triangle

No matter what the layout of your kitchen the so-called work triangle (the one between the cooking, water and storage areas) must be well delimited. And not only that. Once again, measurements are important.

If you want it to be really comfortable to work in the kitchen to work in the kitchen and for everything to seem within easy reach, the sides of this imaginary triangle should add up to between 120 and 270 centimetres between 120 and 270 centimetres (depending on the size of the room, of course).

    Appliances

When it comes to distributing and installing electrical appliances, there are also some measurements to take into account.

The hobs (vitroceramic, induction) should be installed at a minimum distance of 60 centimetres from the sink or any appliance that needs water, such as the dishwasher or washing machine.

As for these, it is advisable to place them all close together, as they are likely to share a water supply.

As for the extractor hoodsto be effective, they should be located between 60 and 70 centimetres from the hob if they are wall-mounted; or at a distance of between 140 and 160 centimetres if they are ceiling-mounted.

Let's finish by talking about the oven. In the past, it was very common to find them under the cooking area. If you opt for this option, the only thing you should bear in mind is that there should be at least 90 centimetres in front of the oven to open it comfortably.

If, on the other hand, you opt for the current trend of placing it in a column next to the microwave, this is our recommendation: always place the microwave, which is used more, at eye level and, underneath, about 90 centimetres from the floor, the oven.
