We have already said it on countless occasions and we’ll never tire of repeating it. We want to give your kitchen more life; make it the heart and soul of the house. And there’s no better way to do that than by incorporating plants into the decoration. In this new article, we’ve brought together some big ideas that will inspire you to spend even more time in your kitchen.

    Think green

The benefits of plants in enclosed spaces have been more than proven. Not only do they purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen but they also have the magic power of the making for a cosier, freer and warmer environment. Just having them close by, seeing them and interacting with them improves our mood and can even make us more creative and happier.

And in terms of decoration, plants can be the key you need to find that unique style you've been looking for in your kitchen. Whether it's vintage, industrial or minimalist, plants go with everything, always!

    Even the ceiling!

An ingenious solution to decorating without having to give up work or storage space. You can place pots that hang from the ceiling, leaving the plants to grow downwards, for a fresh effect. High shelves also give us the opportunity to place plants without hindering movement through the kitchen. And why not take advantage of that smooth wall to line up several rows of aromatic herb plants? That way, you're not only decorating, they can also be used in your recipes. And here’s another really original idea: a suspended structure above a kitchen island.

    Divide and conquer

If you have a kitchen that opens into your living room or dining room and you want to visually separate the spaces, plants can offer the perfect solution. A large plant above a kitchen island or a table can serve as separation and several strategically placed plant pots on the floor can create a passage to the living room.

    And a small kitchen?

Yes! You can still have plants in your kitchen, even if it’s small. You just have to use your imagination and find the best nooks and crannies. For example, you can take advantage of a corner to place a large plant pot. Or a hanging pot in a corner of the room with several plants. The gap above overhead furniture units is another great option if you can use this space. Know where else plants look great? In the windows! Use the window sill or try installing a structure where you can place several pots. They’ll brighten up the view and won’t take up badly needed space.

    A jungle in the home

If you have enough space and you like nature, there are no limits. Combine sizes, places and types of plants. You can achieve a jungle effect that will make your kitchen an original, fun and relaxing space. A couple of plants on the countertop, a palm tree on the floor, a couple of small plants above the fridge, a discreet bunch of flowers on the breakfast bar... Try it out and discover there are no limits.

    Plants for all tastes

As you can see, the possibilities are infinite. But not all plants are suitable for all kitchens. Of course, they should be indoor plants. But there are other issues to bear in mind.

If gardening isn’t your thing, cacti could be the solution. They don’t need much care and the variety will allow you to create beautiful combinations. The golden pothos is another good idea for beginners, and it's bright green colour will lend a special touch.

Spearmint, basil, mint, parsley, oregano, rosemary... We’ve already spoken about aromatic herbs. They don’t take up too much space, and they look great together on a wall panel and add a twist to your dishes. They're must-haves!

And to finish, we also recommend the spider plant, the spath, the Zanzibar gem and the string of pearls. They're all plants with nice leaves that are decorative on their own. What’s more, they're easy to maintain and only need indirect light.
