We usually give you tips and advice on how to plan and decorate your new kitchen. This time, though, we're going to turn things round and help you avoid bad ideas when it comes to your next kitchen renovation.

Warning: only avoid making these mistakes if you want your kitchen to be state-of-the-art. Take notes!

    1. Buying non-integrated appliances

As we've been telling you, having your appliances integrated into the cabinets is an essential kitchen trend. It largely eliminates visual noise and adds a sense of spaciousness and order.

So, if you are thinking of renovating your kitchen with new appliances like a washing machine or dishwasher, be sure to buy ones that can be integrated.

    2. Fitting a decorative wall-mounted cooker hood

It's the same thing with extractors: leaving them in plain sight is a thing of the past. Gone are the decorative wall-mounted cooker hoods. Although they were sometimes very attractive visually, let's not forget that keeping them clean was a real pain.

So if you're looking to increase functionality, you're in luck. The trend these days is to integrate the hood into overhead units.

    3. Having your waste bins outside of kitchen cabinets

We realise that in recent years waste bins have started to look considerably better than they used to. The variety of shapes, colours and materials is now almost infinite, making some of them true designer pieces (with prices to match, of course).

But why have them out on show, and often in the way, when you can hide them away in a cupboard? With our storage systems you can set up your own recycling station, tailored to your needs and offering easy, discreet access.

    4. Leaving lighting to chance

As with fashion, when it comes to décor, we see that trends are cyclical and always end up coming back. But we're convinced that there is one aspect of old kitchens that nobody will miss. We're talking about those lamps up on the ceiling with fluorescent tubes and cold light that dominated (and saddened) kitchens.

And we're sure of this not only because the variety of ceiling lights is almost endless, but also because these days the design of a light is taken into consideration to make the kitchen a more pleasant and functional place - as we explained in our article "The art of lighting your kitchen". Feel inspired as you explore all the lighting systems we offer that can be integrated into your kitchen cabinets.

    5. Tiling the entire wall

The good news continues: tiling your walls from top to bottom is going to be super easy in the coming seasons - with the consequent savings in materials and labour.

In fact, the latest trend is to tile (or cover with other resistant materials) only those areas that really need to be covered for reasons of hygiene or functionality in order to create more welcoming spaces. You can combine them with plain paint finishes or even wallpaper.

    6. Not optimising the cutlery drawer

All our drawer models (Elegance, Optimus and Deluxe) have customisable interior organisation systems so that you can adapt them to your needs and your kitchen cutlery and utensils.

Having different compartments means you can find what you need quickly and easily, at a glance. No more having a container on your worktop with kitchen utensils taking up space and adding clutter to the environment. We make it easy for you to sort it all out; it's up to you to maintain it over time!
