Its magic formula isn’t really that magical: while white brings light, a sense of space, and that clean feeling many people need when cooking, wood balances it out with its organic texture, creating a warm, lived-in, truly welcoming space.

However, getting both elements to work perfectly together takes a good sense of proportion. If we overdo the white, we risk creating a space that feels a bit cold or impersonal; and if we go too heavy on the wood, we can reduce brightness (which is sometimes already limited by the room’s natural light conditions).

To help you, through three proposals from our latest catalogue (with our Aviano, Liverpool and Parona models), we look at how to combine both finishes to achieve a timeless, functional kitchen with a personality of its own.

Aviano

Aviano: balancing the space by playing with visual planes

When designing a kitchen, one of the best strategies for combining two finishes is to organise them by levels or visual planes. Instead of alternating colours without a clear pattern, assigning one material to each area helps the whole space feel tidy and harmonious.

In this proposal, we use wood as a solid base on the tall units and on the outside of the island. This gives the room visual stability. The wood grain “embraces” the work area and creates a very pleasant setting.

For the base units (set in parallel), as well as the island cladding, we’ve chosen white to lighten the space and reflect the light coming in through the large window.

Liverpool

Liverpool: tradition with a refreshed feel

For those looking for a kitchen with handcrafted charm, framed fronts are the perfect choice. A small moulding creates a soft play of light and shadow that adds texture to the space without losing its modern feel.

In our Liverpool proposal, the spotlight is on the model itself in a white finish, making natural light spread throughout the room.

Here, the touch of wood is introduced as a welcoming accent in the areas where the eye—and the hand—appreciate it most: the worktop, the wall cladding, and an open unit that doubles as a breakfast nook.

For an extra cosy feel, we’ve included warm lighting in all these areas, which comes built into the wall units. It creates an enveloping atmosphere for those quiet moments—for example, as evening falls or when you unwind after dinner.

Parona: wood accents

There are many ways to make one material take centre stage in a design. Because no, it’s not always about using it as a base—sometimes it’s the opposite.

Our proposal with our Parona model is a great example of this. Here, white and soft tones dominate the room, creating an atmosphere full of purity.

However, your eyes are drawn to the base units, where our oak-finish laminate stands out in its own right, bringing presence, character, and stability to the whole design.

To add more contrast, we’ve chosen black for the oven and microwave (stacked in a tall unit) and for the tambour door that hides the breakfast nook. And for a softer touch, we’ve added gold in the handles, tapware, and the veining of the worktop.

Designing with the way you live in mind

As we can see, combining white and wood isn’t about applying a fixed formula—it’s about finding the right proportion for your space, the light coming in through your windows, and your own way of using the kitchen. Whether it’s through the symmetry of the Aviano model, Liverpool’s framed delicacy, or Parona’s bold personality, the secret is creating a space where you actually want to spend time.

In the end, a well-thought-out kitchen doesn’t just look beautiful on day one—it remains a pleasure to live in as the years go by.

If you need help planning it and making it a reality, you know you can count on one of our distributors.
