Once again, we’re taking advantage of the change of year to take stock of trends (which ones stay and which ones go) and analyze the evolution of interior design in our favorite room of the house: the kitchen.
At OB Cocinas, we don’t see trends as fleeting fads, but as responses to new ways of living, cooking, and inhabiting the different spaces in our home. Therefore, the list that you can read below should be understood as a summary of ideas and advice rather than rules to follow.
And if you are going to renovate your kitchen in 2026, what should prevail are your tastes and your personality. That being said… shall we begin?
Even purer: the evolution of warm minimalism
Warm minimalism, the trend that we have seen grow and consolidate in recent years, will continue to gain followers in 2026. And it will do so by evolving towards an even more refined aesthetic: completely smooth fronts, hidden or integrated handles, and other elements structured in a way that enhances visual order without ever renouncing that feeling of home that we like so much.
What will remain is the color palette, full of serenity, in which sand tones, soft grays, and natural beiges predominate. As we have already glimpsed this year, the combination of these tones with light woods and stone-effect finishes will be very popular. All in order to create calm, elegant, and timeless spaces.
Sustainability as a banner
It is already a reality: sustainability has ceased to be an “extra” to become an essential part of our lives and also of kitchen design. By 2026, the demand for responsible, sustainable, and durable products will be much higher.
Reducing the impact on the environment and taking care of our surroundings and the people who inhabit it is something that we at OB Cocinas have always taken into account. An attitude that has led us in 2025 to become one of the first Spanish kitchen furniture factories to obtain B Corp certification. This certification guarantees that your kitchen furniture has been manufactured with sustainable materials and responsible processes.
This trend will also affect the choice of countertops and coverings, with growing interest in new-generation mineral and porcelain surfaces with high performance and low porosity.
“Invisible” technology
Perhaps with the intention of creating welcoming spaces, 2026 will be the year in which technology becomes practically imperceptible. Kitchens will opt for solutions that improve people’s experience without altering the design.
We are talking about automated interior lighting systems or motorized openings that are activated by pressure; but also connected appliances that blend in with the furniture. Everything will be prepared to function intuitively, without cables, without visual interruptions, and without losing aesthetic continuity.
The kitchen as a total social space
The kitchen will continue to consolidate as the heart of the house, the nerve center of life. In 2026 we will see a practically definitive farewell to divided and segmented spaces.
In this sense, islands and peninsulas will continue to be protagonists, but with even more versatile proposals: work surfaces will coexist in harmony with areas designed for breakfast, teleworking, or enjoying an informal meal. The goal: that the kitchen adapts to the rhythm of each family.

Natural textures
Textures in finishes will acquire a key role in 2026: silky surfaces, lightly brushed woods, or stone-effect finishes will be protagonists.
Therefore, the combination of different materials and finishes in the same kitchen will be common. The idea is to create spaces rich in nuances and full of character. The challenge here will be to find the balance between contrast and coherence (something that the designers in our network of distributors can help you with).
Intelligent storage
Order will continue to be fundamental in the coming year; therefore, storage solutions will continue to evolve to adapt to each of the needs that people may have.
It will be increasingly common to find perfectly optimized interiors and removable systems to take advantage of every centimeter.
In short, the kitchens that we will see next year will prioritize the feeling of home and warmth, but they will also be highly functional, completely designed for real life. We are looking forward to seeing them.
