In depth: combination of materials with Apunto Reformas

The design of a contemporary kitchen is no longer limited to the choice of functional furniture; today we seek to create visual ecosystems where the texture, color, and architecture of the space coexist in harmony.

In this new installment of our section “In depth”, in which we analyze in detail outstanding projects from our distributors; we travel to Madrid. There we find a spectacular project designed and executed by Apunto Reformas, an interior design and renovation company that uses our furniture for many of its kitchens.

In this particular one, they have been able to interpret the versatility of our models like few others to give life to a room that functions both as a refuge and an operations center without losing a single brushstroke of the style that floods this entire exceptional home.

In it, the objective seems clear: to impregnate all the rooms with personality, with the mix of textures and materials as a common thread.

The soul of the project

The structural base of this project, which gives depth to the entire room, is made with our Arizona model, a high-pressure laminate that faithfully emulates walnut wood, with its characteristic and deep grains.

Although dark wood is usually associated with purely rustic aesthetics, here Apunto Reformas takes an amazing turn and uses it with a clear contemporary and almost architectural intention. Thus, the column cabinets, which masterfully integrate the oven and microwave with a minimalist aesthetic, act as a wooden wall that provides structural warmth to the whole.

And the choice of our Arizona model is no coincidence. Its clean, handle-free design (with a Gola opening system) creates a feeling of stability, order, and serenity.

It is a perfect example of how a high-quality laminate material can offer the organic warmth of wood with the necessary resistance for the intensive use of a large kitchen.

Playing with luminous contrast

If the wooden furniture provides the solid and earthy base, the wall units and the water area provide the luminosity that this design was crying out for.

For this reason, Apunto Reformas has opted for the same light and neutral tone for base units, wall units, countertop, and cladding; giving the sensation of merging with the walls and ceiling.

Without a doubt, a very wise decision to prevent the space from feeling overloaded, allowing the natural light that enters through the side windows to bounce and bathe the entire room.

It should be noted that the combination of two finishes (in this case, dark wood and a light plain tone) is one of the most timeless solutions in interior design. It helps to visually delimit areas without the need for physical partitions.

All eyes on the island

If there is an element that captures all the attention in this project, it is, without a doubt, the imposing central island.

Apunto Reformas takes this project to another level by crowning the furniture in our model with a stone-effect countertop in green tones with deep dark veins.

Although its main function is to serve as an informal dining area, with capacity for up to six diners; the large dimensions of this kitchen have also made it possible to add storage space and expanded food preparation surface.

The union of the forest green tones of the countertop and the walnut-effect finish; in contrast to the gray stools; create a combination that evokes nature in perfect dialogue with urban sophistication.

Closed, but open

One of the most outstanding successes of this renovation is the connection of the kitchen with the rest of the house. Through an enclosure of iron and fluted glass, Apunto Reformas has achieved a physical separation that, however, does not interrupt the visual flow.

This reinforces the idea that the kitchen is one more piece in the general design of the house, not a separate addition; consistent with the rest of the interior design.

Differentiating solutions

In this project we see how fundamental aspects have been taken care of for the timelessness of the kitchen:

  • Visual integration: The appliances are perfectly integrated into the columns of the Arizona model.
  • Intelligent distribution: The “L”-shaped layout with a central island optimizes the work triangle, allowing several people to coexist in the space without getting in each other’s way.

In conclusion, this kitchen is not just a place to cook; it is a lesson in balance, where the robustness of the laminate and the delicacy of the stone come together to create a timeless home.
